Russian Import Quotas Set

RUSSIA - Russia has given the go ahead to the import of 445,000 tonnes of frozen beef and 28,900 tonnes of fresh and chilled beef over the coming year.

In setting the new tariff rate quotas, the Russian authorities have licensed 366 companies to export frozen beef to Russia.

It has also given licences to 32 companies for the fresh beef quota.

Europe will receive the lion's share of the quota being allowed to ship 28,400 tonnes of fresh beef, with the rest coming from other countries. It will also be allowed to ship 351,600 tonnes of frozen beef.

The other exporting countries for frozen beef will be the US with 18,300 tonnes, Paraguay with 3,000 tonnes and 72,100 tonnes coming from other countries.
