Venezuela and Brazil Join Forces over FMD

VENUZUELA - Venezuela and Brazil are to join forces in the fight against foot and mouth disease in South America.

The two countries are to hold joint technical discussions in Caracas when a mission from Brazil travels to Venezuela between 18 January and 1 February.

The measure was announced by the Brazilian minister of agriculture Reinhold Stephanes during as meeting with the chairman of the cattle board, Sebastiao Costa Guedes and the president of the Inter-American Group for the Eradication of FMD, Phil Bradshaw.

As well as working with the Venezuelan animal heal;th authorities, the Brazilian delegation will also hold commercial discussions in Venezuela.

The Brazilian mission will be headed by the secretary for international relations in the agricultural negotiation department, Celio Porto.
