Czech Republic Beef/Cattle Data for 2006

CZECH REPUBLIC - The Czech Statistical Office reports that the Czech Republic produced 79,233 tonnes carcass weight of beef in 2006, a fall of 1.6 per cent as compared with the previous year. Beef accounted for approximately 13 per cent of total meat production in the Czech Republic in 2006.

The average price of bulls for slaughter of “1st quality” averaged CZK41.89 (USD1.93) per kilo liveweight and CZK77.29 (USD3.55) per kilo carcass weight in the Czech Republic last year.

Regarding foreign trade, beef imports fell by 5.0 per cent year-on-year in the period from December 1, 2005 to November 30, 2006, but exports increased by 41.6 per cent. Most beef was imported from Poland and Austria, while beef exports were mostly delivered to Slovakia.
