At Iowa Cattle Auction, No One Bids for President

MASSENA, Iowa -- Shouting and whooping, a pair of cowhands drove 16 head of Black Angus yearlings into the sales pit, and auctioneer Gary Rupiper launched into his singsong spiel. There followed three frenetic minutes of bid, counterbid, and counters to the counter. As soon as the bidding slowed, Rupiper abruptly shut it off. "Sold the cattle for $82.50," he barked into his microphone. "Next lot, please."
