Japan finds 10th suspected case of mad cow disease
TOKYO - Japanese authorities have found a dairy cow suspected of being infected with mad cow disease - the first such discovery in more than three months, an official said Saturday.If confirmed, the animal would be Japan's 10th with the fatal brain-wasting disease, known formally as bovine spongiform encephalopathy, or BSE. Health Ministry official Naruhisa Kagayama said the Holstein was screened Friday at a slaughterhouse in Kanagawa prefecture (state), just west of Tokyo.
