U.S. moves to break beef ban

In a bid to get back into the Japanese meat market, the U.S. government and meat industry plan to allow private companies to conduct independent tests for mad-cow disease.
Japan has banned all imports of U.S. beef since late December when bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) was detected in a U.S. dairy cow.
