Farmers encouraged to sell Genus shares

UK - The 20,000 farmers with shares in animal genetics giant Genus will receive favourable dealing terms if they sell their holdings by December 20.

Chief executive Richard Wood urged shareholders, some of who might be unaware they owned the shares, not to ignore the envelopes they would be receiving.

"We still have 7000 un-cashed dividend cheques," he said.

Those with fewer than 1000 shares can sell their holding for a discounted maximum dealing charge of £30. Those with fewer than 150 shares will be charged 20p/share.

Farmers received their shares for free following the break up of the Milk Marketing Board.
