U.S. urged to continue keeping out Canada cows

US - Seven U.S. senators sent a letter to Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman yesterday, urging her to withdraw a proposal that could allow live cattle shipments from Canada to the United States as early as this spring.
Yesterday was the last day for public comment on the proposal to reopen the border to cattle younger than 30 months of age. Cattle older than that are considered at higher risk of mad-cow disease.
