Cuban News Agency reports that these improvements are part of a program to recover the capacities of the Cuban dairy industry, which extends until 2020, aimed primarily at constructive maintenance with the aim of strengthening sanitary and safety conditions.

Gradually, investments are focused on the replacement of technological lines and independent machines, refrigeration equipment, steam generation systems and means of transport.

Obel Jiménez Morales, director of the entity, informed the Cuban News Agency that the Base Business Unit (UEB) of Morón is equipped with an evaporative condenser and a compressor of the refrigeration system, which will ensure the temperature of the products.

In the UEB in Morón, there is also an ice cream freezer with a capacity of one thousand vats a day, higher than the current one of 600 vats; and a milk pasteurizer of five thousand liters per hour, explained Jiménez Morales.

The investments will also improve the UEB located in the provincial capital of Ciego de Avila with the installation of a pasteurizer and a clarifier, which will be put into operation when the stainless steel pipes and valves, elbows, T and universal joints are delivered, he added.

The executive said that the benefits of the rains for the livestock sector are already palpable in the dairy industry, since about 20,000 liters of milk received on average at the end of April and in May they collected about 38,000 liters per day.

If these delivery levels grow, destined to the production of yogurt, cheese, fluid milk and ice cream in the two UEBs of the province, we will stop using powdered milk, which costs the national economy so much in the international market, said Jiménez Morales.

In a recent review of the essential programs in the development of the country, it was reported that in the different branches of the Food Industry are executed investments of more than 144 million pesos, mainly in dairy, meat, canned food and juices, soft drinks and wheat flour.

María del Carmen Concepción González, the Minister, informed at the meeting that the program includes actions to gradually restore industrial food processing, increase exports, reduce imports of industrialized products and improve the satisfaction of demand in the domestic market and tourism.
