Second Round of FMD Vaccination Starts in Argentina

ARGENTINA - The Argentine National Health Service and Food Quality (SENASA) is to start the second round of the annual vaccination against foot and mouth disease in the appropriate provinces.

At the same time calves between three and eight months old will be vaccinated against brucellosis, except in the province of Tierra del Fuego, which recognised as being free of the disease.

In this campaign there will be different vaccination strategies, depending on the vaccination plan applicable to each province or region.

In Buenos Aires (except for El Carmen), Entre Rios and Corrientes, all cattle and buffalo are to be vaccinated.

In the other provinces, vaccination category contains only young cattle and buffalo will receive the second vaccination.
