The contracts stems from an extra policy drive for sustainability for B+L NZ, which includes using the regional policy network of Federated Farmers.

This is according to Federated Farmers chief executive Dr Champion, who added: “We think this is the most efficient way of using sheep and beef farmers’ money to strengthen our voice in this important area.”

Federated Farmers chief executive Conor English said: “It makes a lot of sense to use our specialist knowledge and resources to cover off this area for sheep and beef farmers.

“Federated Farmers has a long tradition of representing farmers at the regional and national level and has a good understanding and expertise in regional council processes and freshwater science,” he said.

“We also see this as an opportunity for Beef + Lamb New Zealand and Federated Farmers to develop joint policy and to work together for the good of all farmers.”
