Spreading south and west from its epicentre, recent observations have seen the condition particularly affect dairy herds with veterinarians believing that vectors thrive in warm indoor barns of the dairy farms as opposed to the more open and therefore cooler beef yards and pastures.

The two affected farms are in the Hazafon region. Two cases have been identified on a farm in Ramot where 100 animals are susceptible and a farm in Kanaf has had one confirmed case where 300 animals are susceptible. In total three animals have been destroyed.

The administrative area of Hazafon has vaccinated a total of 107,094 animals with a pox vaccine (Jovac). Dipping, spraying, movement controls and screening are other measure applied in disease management.
