Taking place at the Rheged Centre, Penrith, on 30 June, the free Better Returns Programme event will address key areas of management which can contribute to profitable beef and sheep enterprises in the sensitive upland environment.

Industry experts, including Kate Philips of ADAS, Gavin Dick of SAC and GrassMaster Charlie Morgan, will share their knowledge of research and best practice in areas such as breeding, nutrition and grass production, which producers can then adopt on their own farm to improve their returns.

“The uplands are an integral part of the English beef and sheep industry, providing the gene pool for much of the country’s breeding and store stock”, said Chris Lloyd, EBLEX industry development manager.

“However, running a profitable livestock enterprise in this challenging environment is a delicate balancing act”.

“This conference is one of a new series of Better Returns Programme activities focused exclusively on upland production and the unique challenges these farmers face”.

Places at the conference are free to English beef and sheep levy payers in LFAs. For more information visit www.eblex.org.uk, or to book your place call 0870 609 1840 or e-mail [email protected] with your name and address details.
