NETHERLANDS - The Dutch agriculture ministry is to launch its bluetongue vaccination programme from 6 May.The ministry said that it would be dividing the programme into three stages - in May, June and August.
The ministry has 3 million doses of the vaccine to treat sheep and cattle in the country and the first million doses will be distributed between 6-15 May.
The ministry said that it wanted to get the voluntary vaccination programme underway before new cases took hold in the country.
The farmers can participate in the scheme by contacting their vet and they can also recoup some of the cost of vaccination from the European Commission.
