Meat and Wool new Zealand Welcomes Fast Forward Initiative
NEW ZEALAND - Meat and Wool New Zealand says the New Zealand Fast Forward initiative will be welcome news to the country’s sheep and beef farmers and acknowledgement of the confidence the Government has in the sector.
Meat and Wool New Zealand Chairman, Mike Petersen said the Government's investment signalled to farmers that their sector is important and will continue to offer significant opportunities.
"We are pleased the Government has made this commitment, recognising that a big investment is needed if New Zealand is to build on the comparative advantage it has in the pastoral and food industries.
"New Zealand’s beef, lamb and wool are premium products but we have to keep working hard to maintain and grow export opportunities.
"We must be innovative to survive in this competitive environment and this is a strength that has served our industry well in the past."
Mr Petersen said Meat and Wool New Zealand welcomed the opportunity to join other industry partners and assist with the Government’s new investment in initiatives that will make a difference to farmers and all of New Zealand.
