AHDB Cattle and Sheep Weekly
28 November 2016
Another cagey week in the cattle trade
In week ended 19 November, the GB all prime deadweight cattle average price was unchanged on the week earlier at 349.8p/kg. As demand remains in a robust position ahead of Christmas, this stability comes despite AHDB estimates indicating 300 head more prime cattle were marketed than in the previous week. While the evolution of price suggests stability in the trade over the past couple of weeks or so, it is worth pointing out that the market is still open for some solid negotiation. Producers with the right number of in-spec cattle that fit their processors precise requirement are once again best placed to take advantage of this.
