They have been given 20ha of land in Kota Tinggi.

This will benefit some 15 farmers who have been in a quandary because of the disappearance of farmland.

The rapid development in Johor has threatened to edge out the farmers who run farms in the outskirts of major towns. Their farms are now scattered in Ulu Tiram, Kempas, Kangkar Pulai, Kangkar Tebrau and Plentong and Lima Kedai, where some 2,000 cows are being reared.

The farms supply about 1,500 litres of fresh milk to the Veterinary Services Department. They supply another 1,000 litres of milk and milk products such as yoghurt and ghee, to households and restaurants on specially-fitted motorcycles or small lorries.
