The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) has signed up to this year’s Restaurant and Bar Hong Kong (RBHK) show at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.

The three-day event, which starts on Tuesday, attracts thousands of food and drink service professionals principally from Hong Kong and Macau. It has grown over the years to become a key event for keeping up-to-date with the latest products, trends and developments.

More than just an exhibition, RBHK 2017 will also be serving up top chefs, food professionals and key decision-makers.

Six meat exporters and three importers will join AHDB at the event to showcase a selection of beef, lamb and pork products. There will also be a number of tasting sessions held throughout the event.

AHDB’s Head of Livestock Export Trade Development Jean-Pierre Garnier said: "This is always a very well attended exhibition in a key target market for UK meat exports. At the show we will be promoting everything great about our beef, lamb and pork to decision-makers from the industry.

"This year, we have secured probably the best location at the entrance of the main hall and as with the Hofex show earlier this year in Hong Kong, we believe that product tastings will attract the crowds."

Hong Kong is a growing market for UK meat exports with latest figures showing a four-fold increase in chilled beef exports as well as a 91 per cent rise in chilled lamb. Sausage exports to the country have also increased by a third, whilst three brands of British pork are marketed on the territory.

Food Minister George Eustice said: "This trade show is a great opportunity for our producers to network with potential buyers and drive exports to Hong Kong, which are already worth more than £375 million.

"The UK’s meat exports are growing globally – with recent agreements for UK pork to China and beef to the Philippines – and our high quality meat is already one of the biggest exports to Hong Kong. This trade mission will help drive further demand for these world-class products."
