UK - Arla Organic Farm Milk is proud to be a sponsor of the UK Coffee Week, a nationwide fundraising campaign that takes place in thousands of coffee shops across the country to support the coffee-growing communities around the world.
Taking place from 10 – 16 April, 100 per cent of donations received from UK Coffee Week will go to Project Waterfall, an initiative dedicated to bringing clean water facilities to coffee growing communities.
Of the 2.2 billion cups of coffee made in coffee shops each year, a vast majority feature milk, making Arla Organic Farm Milk an ideal partner for the initiative. Launched late 2016 by Arla Foods, the farmer-owner dairy company, Arla Organic Farm Milk is the latest addition to the Arla portfolio which has seen significant innovation in the last two years.
Rachel Glendenning, Foodservice Business Controller, Arla Foods UK said: “Arla supplies milk in to leading coffee shops around the UK, so it makes perfect sense for Arla Organic Farm Milk to get involved. I’m delighted that our farmers and colleagues are also getting involved in supporting farmers in other parts of the world.”
Arla farmer owner, Ian Pye, an organic dairy farmer near Preston, Lancashire, said: “I am delighted to be involved with UK Coffee Week. As an organic dairy farmer, I see the importance of sustainable farming practices. Supporting Project Waterfall through UK Coffee Week, visitors to our farm café, and my family can make a difference to support sustainable coffee farming around the World.”
Arla colleague canteens at a number of its sites, including the Leeds head office, will be supporting.
As part of UK Coffee Week, Arla Organic Farm Milk is hosting a Latte Art Throwdown, hosted at the UK Coffee Week venue The Gentleman’s Barista in London Bridgeon, 12 April. It will see baristas compete to show off their best and most innovative latte art skills in a series of challenges. The latte art, which will have an organic theme to each challenge, will be judged by Nigel Barden, the chef on Simon Mayo’s BBC Radio 2 Drivetime show.
Arla Organic Free Range Milk 2-litre semi-skimmed and whole milk formats are available in Tesco and Asda stores (rsp: £1.75).
