Largest Multi-product Dairy Processing Plant in Western Province to Open

SRI LANKA - Cargills Ceylon PLC, which has, over the last two years, initiated a Rs. 3.3 billion rupee intensive dairy expansion project will host President Maithripala Sirisena on 3 April to ceremonially launch the Kotmale Dairy Plant at Gaspe, Banduragoda in the Western Province, a statement said.

The new facility will be the largest multi-product dairy processing plant in the country, Cargill said.

According to ColomboPage, Cargills said that its expansion in dairy has resulted in the development of a full range of dairy products and the new facility is the largest single investment in the development of the local dairy industry made by the private sector in the recent past.

The "Kotmale" brand is a leading brand in the dairy sector standing for highest quality products at a reasonable price, according to the parent Company.

According to Cargills, the facility is connected to over 15,000 dairy farmers spread across Sri Lanka generating sustainable livelihoods while conserving valuable foreign exchange through the utilization of 100 per cent local fresh milk for all production.

Cargills has recently placed its dairy related activities under the banner of Cargills Quality Dairies (Pvt) Ltd.
