Only genetic material from animals born and raised in Brazil and then passed through registered processing centres will be eligible for shipment, the Ministry of Agriculture said.

Since the year 2000, Brazil’s bovine semen exports have expanded $88,500 and last year jumped to nearly $1.4 million, the lion’s share of which went to Colombia and Paraguay – 44 and 33 per cent.

“The agreement means the ministry if committed to ensuring health guarantees that meet the requirements of exports for the Dominican Republic,” said a government spokesperson.
