Six cattle were found to have signs and lesions consistent with Foot and Mouth infection.

The cattle came from a village herd of 34, in an area along the Cubango River used to transport cattle between summer and winter pastures. Another 5000 cattle are listed as susceptible to the disease following the outbreak.

Movement controls, quarantines and surveillance along with modified stamping out of the disease will be used to control spread.

The outbreak occurred in the Cubene region, in the south of the country.
