“At least three” batches expected to contain 75 carcasses are to be shipped to the “high demand” Chinese market by meat processor FRIGORSORNO, says Chile’s ministry of agriculture.

FRIGORSONO officials have expressed gratification for government assistance after two years of joint negotiations.

Angel Sartori, national director at the government’s Agricultural and Livestock Service, put the trade announcement down to Chile’s strong livestock health performance.

"This has combined both the public interest and private open a market and make it possible to send a ship products, we are satisfied with private and public sector collaboration,” he said.

“This container is an initial step and we have no doubt it will be a big boost to domestic livestock and other public policies that we are implementing.”

An industry spokesperson said: "We are proud to be pioneers again in something as important as it is to open the Chinese market, a larger huge market that fits all production of meat and by-products, and all livestock from small family farms peasant even those.”

FRIGOSORNO is licensed to export to Europe, Russia, Japan, Hong Kong, Panama, and range of South American countries as well as the US to the north.
