TianNing farm, based in Ningxia, is achieving daily production of 30 kilograms of milk per cow from its 3,000 first lactation cows.

Coordinated by Israeli dairy company Afimilk, the operation aims to reach a capacity of 6,000 cows and 4,000 heifers.

Staff training has included a two month training course in Israel on advanced dairy farming.

Large herd management, organisation, milking routine, nutrition and fertility have all been taught to attendees.

Mr. Feirui, General Manager of the TianNing Company said : "The new dairy farm in China is rising rapidly with the help of Afimilk’s system and the company’s professional support.”

Farm managers state that the continental, semi-arid climate of Ningxia province is suitable for dairying, supporting corn silage and alfalfa.

Project leaders are looking into replicating the project elsewhere in China.
