The visit will take in Rondonia, Mato Grosso, Mat Grosso do Sul, Goias and Minas Gerias and run until 13 February.

The visit marks an important stage in nurturing trade relations with Egypt, the Brazilian farm minister said.

"In recent months, Brazil has achieved significant market openings and will hopefully get even more positive results in this regard,” said the minister for Agriculture Livestock and Supply, Rodrigo Figueiredo.

Last year, Brazilian exports to Egypt grossed $643.9 million in meat sales and $1.6 billion in agribusiness products.
