China Buys Record Grain Fed Beef Quantities in November

CHINA - November was the second largest ever month for Australian meat exports to China and the best yet for grain fed beef.

Meat and Livestock Australia has confirmed last month's grain fed shipments totaled 2,623 tonnes swt, of which 780 tonnes was brisket, the largest proportion. 

Silverside/outside cuts were also bought considerably, at 335 tonnes, as were shin and shank cuts, at 326 tonnes swt. 

This masked a five per cent fall in beef sales, although still came in as the third biggest month for beef exports on record. 

Record shipments for goat and lamb meat coincided with the third biggest month for beef on record at 15, 820 tonnes swt. 

Of this, 76 per cent was breast, flap, carcase and shoulder.

Lamb and mutton breast and flap exports were both record monthly volumes, at 2,047 tonnes swt and 1,967 tonnes swt, respectivley. The majority (85 per cent ) of carcase was mutton, at 2,610 tonnes swt.

While lamb shoulder was down 25 per cent year-on-year, at 546 tonnes swt, mutton shoulder reached the highest volumes, at 746 tonnes swt.
