Daily Dairy Trading: Losses In Futures Contracts, Wednesday

12 December 2013

US – Dairy futures closed down yesterday as Cheddar Blocks traded a cent higher in the spot market.

Wednesday reported losses for December Class III and IV milk, down six cents to $19.03 and one cent to $21.43 respectively.

For January and February, bigger losses of 18 and 17 cents were reported, meaning a close of $18.43 and $17.92 respectively, according to the Agricultural Marketing Service at the US Department of Agriculture.

Nonfat Dry Milk, like Cheddar Blocks, finished a cent higher with spot values of $1.8900 and $2.0700 respectively.

This leaves NDM both above the $2 mark, slightly ahead of last week’s prices.

Elsewhere in the futures market, Cheese closed down half a cent to finish on $1.8630. December NDM and Butter both finished unchanged on $1.9400 and $1.6355.
