Buy Local Programme to Boost Beef Profile

20 August 2013

CANADA – The British Columbia public are being given the opportunity to learn about the range of beef products available through the local government’s Buy Local programme.

The Buy Local project is marketing locally produced food products at retailers and caterers in the Vanderhoof and Prince Rupert area in conjunction with Little Valley Farms, Country Locker abattoir and young ranchers Levi and Jessica Walker.

In total, C$43,725 are going to fund the two projects which will incorporate shop floor advertising and sampling with radio, newspaper and billboard advertising and a website.

Agriculture Minister Pat Pimm said: “The North produces grass-fed beef products that are great on the grill and the table year round, and this project lets people know local beef is available."

"Consumers who choose local beef and food products support businesses and their communities, and I encourage all meat lovers in the North to enjoy local beef."

Ken Fawcett, owner of Little Valley Farms said he was excited to partner the Walkers and Country Locker and that such a relationship is what is needed to shape the future of farming in the Nechako valley.
