New Vibriosis Test has 85 per cent Accuracy23 July 2013
CANADA – A study has identified a good diagnostic test for virbiosis.
Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) studies carried out by the National Check-off and Canada’s Beef Science Cluster found specific DNA sequences as a practical test for identifying beef cattle with vibriosis.
Testing is 85 per cent accurate and while not perfect is a useful tool to veterinarians.
Vibriosis remains a common reproductive failure in beef herds in western Canada along with trichomoniasis, another veneral disease.
