Historically owned jointly by members of the Swedish Dairy Association, Swedish Butter (Sventskt Smor) is a brand that Patrick Hansonn, Arla Business President, says can develop under Arla’s full ownership.

“Swedish Butter has a very well-known package but the brand itself is not very well known. We can now increase sales and interest in the butter more easily.”

And while communication efforts and business direction may alter under Arla, Mr Hansson has reassured that Swedish butter will continue to be made exclusively from Swedish milk.

With market and trademark issues around the butter gone, Ake Hammartsrom, CEO of the Swedish Dairy Association, has said that the real value of the Swedish Butter brand can now be realised.

Exciting product launches are already in the pipeline, added Arla’s Patrik Hansson.

Arla will officially become sole owner from 27 June.
