SWEDEN - A new Government scheme hoping to improve farmer/resteraunt links is being drawn to a close with 23 potential candidates being selected at Gothenburg.
Farmers are being promoted in the 'chef of the year' competition where cooks are expected to showcase, not only their cooking ability but their ability to identitfy good quality meat and unique local brands.
The government have expressed their interest in promoting links between farmers and buyers saying the relationship can be mutually beneficial. The state of the Swedish marketplace at the moment is that farmers supply larger companies rather than doing business with local eateries and shops.
