The Minister of Agriculture, Bruno Le Maire, welcomed the launch, saying that it was a historic day for the French beef industry.

Minister Le Maire said that GEF reflects the shared commitment of stakeholders, which aims to enhance French beef through the organisation of strategic, sustainable and co-ordinated growth to improve the markets for live cattle, beef and genetics.

"This adds value to whole industry, and will in the long run improve farmers incomes."

He said that the government remained committed to defending the interests of French beef, and would mobilise all available means to assist the GEF in the implementation of its projects.
