Print This Page Over 90,000 Cattle Vaccinated Against Anthrax
INDIA - Over 90,000 cattle have been vaccinated in Orissa’s Koraput district following spread of deadly anthrax, which was suspected to have claimed lives of four persons in Sunabeda and Semiliguda areas, Chief District Veterinary Officer (CVDO) S K Takri said.The immunisation drive was in progress on a war footing following outbreak of the dreaded disease, he said adding that the veterinary department had immunised about 12,600 cattle in Semiliguda block, where anthrax cases were reported.
While four persons died due to suspected anthrax in Sunabeda and Semiliguda areas during the last 12 days, some others were also suffering from the disease, which has affected many cattle in the area, they said.
