New Dominican Dairy Association president traces plans

US - The president of the Dominican Milk Producers Association (Aproleche) feels that the import of milk product needs to be regulated "in order to keep the Technical Rectification quota from being exceeded.”

Marcelino Vargas feels that the measure would also avoid that expired and damaged products arrive in the country.

The ex-Cattle Agency director during the Mejia Administration (2000-2004) made his statements during his inaugural as new Aproleche president, replacing Arturo Biaggi.

He said that in his term seminars and other events will be held, aimed at applying Law 27-01 which stipulates that the Government’s social plans –including the school breakfast program- must be implemented using national products, as well as the Law which stimulates national milk production.
