Exclamation Herd Bull has lump on side

My herd bull has lump on side on rib cage. Thought at first was hematoma from possible kick, but has not gone away for year. App. 6 to 8 inches across. Does not seem to change size. Does not seem to bother him.

Have you palpated the lump? is it hard, or soft?
Depending on where it is situated, it could be a hernia, but more likely an abscess, cyst or some type of tumor (probably benign), the problem is that you don't want to lance a hernia.

Default My herd bull has lump.

Fred is a nice enough bull but won't let me touch him. No sqeeze shoot. The lump looks soft but too old for abcess. I thought was in a strange place for hernia since sitting on rib cage. Thanks for the ideas, he seems fine so I guess will not worry unless something else shows up. Very hard to get Vet to house. He says don't worry about it.
