Philippines Lifts Import Ban on Netherlands' Beef

PHILIPPINES - The Philippines has lifted the ban on beef and beef products from the Netherlands, following confirmation from the Office International des Epizooties (OIE) that the country has contained BSE.

To be qualified for imports into the Philippines, boneless and bone-in beef derived from cattle of all ages in the Netherlands must not include nerves or BSE-specified risk materials.

The beef must come from healthy ambulatory and non-downer cattle. Netherlands’ exporters are also required to have the age of the slaughtered cattle certified by the government authority as well as have the slaughter and production date presented on the packaging label.
